What is Co-Employment?

A relationship with ADP TotalSource involves a sharing of employer responsibilities between ourselves as a PEO and our clients. This employment relationship is known as co-employment and is the business model through which ADP TotalSource delivers our suite of services.

As worksite employers, our clients continue to direct employees in their day-to-day duties and activities. As a co-employer responsible for many human resource administrative functions, ADP TotalSource delivers and manages employee benefits administration, manages automated payroll processing and payroll tax preparation and filing, and is the "employer of record" on employees' W-2s. We also handle workers' compensation, EEOC claims, state unemployment insurance, and much more.
