Its Never Too Early to Plan for Annual Enrollment

Just when you thought you were finished with the annual open enrollment for benefits – can it really be time to plan for it again?

A recent study by MetLife found that employees place a lot of importance on the annual enrollment period. The survey found that 43% of employees like the feeling of taking personal responsibility that open enrollment can provide – they get satisfaction from seeing themselves as good protectors for their families. Additionally, about two-thirds of employees believe that the benefits offered by their employers are less expensive than if purchased on an individual basis.

With help from ADP TotalSource, you can do a number of things now to ensure a successful enrollment later on.

Review Your Plan Design

The renewal process is a great opportunity to talk with ADP TotalSource about what’s new in health care plan design, the results of adopting various plan designs, and how health care consumerism can and should play a role in all plan designs. Your ADP TotalSource representative can also help you plan longer term cost strategies to help you plan for future years as well.

Tap Into Your ADP TotalSource Resources

ADP TotalSource offers you leading local, regional, and national insurance carriers, as well as a variety of plans, and products. Consider rounding out the basic benefits by making a variety of voluntary insurance programs available to your employees—such as supplemental life insurance, group legal, long term care, and even pet insurance. These are plans that employees typically don’t or can’t go out and buy on their own.

Communication is Key

Once you’ve decided on the benefits you’ll offer for the upcoming open enrollment, give some thought to how you’ll get the message across to your employees. The best plan in the world won’t help you attract and retain employees unless you make sure they know about it, and understand it. ADP TotalSource helps you by sending out the Benefits Buzz annual enrollment newsletter and providing enrollment kit materials. Keep in mind also that your carriers may have a selection of materials that can be helpful to you in explaining plan provisions to both new and current employees. Consider planning an informational employee meeting so your employees can see the high priority you place on their benefit needs.

Don’t Forget the Extras

Employees generally appreciate the little things you do to make life easier – and the ADP Personal Discounts Program offers your employees discounts on services like health and fitness centers, wireless service, day care, even movie tickets! Be sure to let your employees know about these, too.
